What is an Airfield Operations Specialist?
All activities on an airport’s airfield are overseen by airfield operations professionals.
An airport operations specialist’s primary role is to guarantee that commercial and military aircraft take off and land safely. Managing the flight schedule might also entail a variety of additional supportive activities.
In this position you would:
- Maintain restricted access to airfields by inspecting the airport’s premises and boundaries.
- Assist in the smooth coordination of aircraft arrival, departure, loading, refuelling, and parking on the airfield.
- Maintain a safe operating environment for workers and aircraft.
- Weather conditions, maintenance work, animal activity, and runway conditions are all monitored to maintain airport safety.
- Obtain meteorological data from airport instruments, such as temperature, wind conditions, humidity, and air pressure.
- Maintain flying logs.
- Your abilities should include recognising an issue and determining the best method to fix it, pay attention to anything without being distracted, do two or more tasks concurrently.
